
Mr Simon Gane FRCS (ORL-HNS) MPhil
Consultant in ENT, Rhinology and Olfaction
Mr Simon Gane is a Consultant ENT Surgeon appointed to the Royal National ENT Hospital, UCLH. He is one of the few ENT surgeons in the UK to have trained in medical rhinology and practice within a medical-surgical clinic at a tertiary UK national centre.
In addition to the diagnosis and treatment of complex sinus and nasal disease using both a medical and surgical approach, he has particular expertise in olfaction (smell function of the nose), and is considered a national authority in this field. He is also the appointed Consultant ENT Surgeon to Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. He is a Trustee of Abscent, a charity for patients who experience sense of smell loss.

Mr Thomas Jacques MA (Cantab) FRCS (ORL-HNS)
Consultant in Rhinology and Facial Plastic Surgery
Mr Thomas Jacques is a Consultant ENT, Rhinology and Facial Plastic Surgeon. He has subspecialist expertise in structural surgery of the nose, including cosmetic nasal surgery (rhinoplasty and septorhinoplasty), reconstruction of nasal deformities after trauma, and surgery to improve the nasal airway, as well as all aspects of rhinology and sinus disease.

He read Medicine at Christ’s College, University of Cambridge and trained in leading rhinology centres in London and Europe, including under Dr Kariyawasam and Mr Gane. Following a senior rhinology training Fellowship, he was appointed as a Consultant Rhinologist and ENT Surgeon at St George's University Hospital. He has a prominent role in ENT training for London and is an Editorial Board member of Rhinology, the foremost research journal for nose-sinus disease in Europe.

Professor Valerie Lund DBE FRCS
Consultant in ENT and Rhinology
Professor Valerie Lund is Emeritus Professor of Rhinology, University College London and is an Honorary Consultant ENT Surgeon at the Royal National ENT Hospital, UCLH. She is a distinguished international authority in rhinology and is Emeritus Professor of Rhinology at University College London and the Royal National ENT Hospitals.
Whilst her focus is now specific to medical-legal work and evaluation of cases where a second opinion is helpful, she has been able to join us to provide her senior opinion on complex cases. In 2024 she was made a Dame in the King's New Year's Honours for services to Surgery, and is elected to the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina (2009).
